Using Push to Talk in the AT&T Office@Hand Mobile

Summary

This article provides information on how to use and manage Push to Talk for mobile.

Details

Push to Talk (PTT) allows for instant voice communication with your team using channels. If you’ve been assigned a PTT license, you can access the feature in the AT&T Office@Hand Mobile app to join channels and send or receive PTT messages.

Before using PTT, your admin will need to purchase and assign PTT licenses and set up Push to Talk channels. You can connect to any of these channels at any time. Only your admin can remove you from a channel.

Joining and leaving a channel

  1. Tap Push to Talk at the bottom menu.
NOTE: You may need to click More to see other menus
  2. To join a channel:
    • If you’re joining for the first time, tap the Join a channel button, then select a channel from the list. (a)
    • If you’ve already joined a channel before, tap the channel name dropdown at the top left, then select a channel from the list (b).

  3. To leave a channel, tap Disconnect.
NOTE: Joining a channel will change your presence to online. When you leave the channel, your presence will be offline.

Sending and receiving PTT messages

When you join a channel, you can listen to and send PTT messages. When you leave a channel, you can’t hear or send PTT messages, but you will still be a part of the channel.

  1. Tap Push to Talk at the bottom menu and join a channel.
  2. Press and hold anywhere within the large rectangle button to broadcast your voice to the channel members. You’ll hear a tone when you press and hold the button, and when you release it. You can turn the tone off in your settings.
  3. When someone else speaks, their name will appear, and you’ll hear their message.
NOTE: You’ll hear the PTT message even if you lock your phone, with the AT&T Office@Hand Mobile app running in the background and connected to the channel.
