Searching for a User, Conversation, or Setting in the AT&T Office@Hand Desktop and Web

This article provides information about the search feature on the AT&T Office@Hand Desktop and Web.

You can use the search field in the top bar of the AT&T Office@Hand Desktop and Web to look for any of the following:

  • Conversations (chat and text)
  • Contacts
  • Settings related to:
  • Message
  • Video
  • Phone notifications
  • Connected accounts
  • Themes
  • Data and storage

Using the search bar

Click the search bar to reveal a list of your recent searches. Type into the search bar to begin your search. As you type, a dropdown menu will appear with a list of search results that match your search.

When you use the search bar, your search results will be separated into some or all the following categories:

  • Content, or specific messages
  • People, or AT&T Office@Hand users in the account
  • Groups & Teams
  • Text conversations
  • Settings

If you’d like to perform a specific action, such as starting a call with the person you’re searching for, you can do so by hovering your cursor over a search item, then selecting any of the actions that appear at the far right of any conversation, user, group, or team.

Advanced search

Advanced search functions can improve your search efficiency. The Content search section allows you to search for specific content in all conversations, or in specific messages in this conversation. Search [given string] in this conversation appears only when the user has opened a conversation.

To view the full list of advanced search results, click Show more that appears at the bottom of certain categories. This will take you to the full list of search results for those categories.

Messages

From the Messages tab, you can search for a specific message in any conversation. The number of search results appears next to Results. To further filter your results, you can use the Filters pane at the right-hand side of the window. You can use the following filters:

  • Posted by: Enter the name or email address of the person who posted the message you’re looking for.
  • Posted in: Enter the name of a conversation (a user’s name or a team name) to search for a message in a particular conversation.
  • Type: Choose from a list of message types to filter your search: All, Messages, Events, Files, Links, Notes, and Tasks.
  • Time posted: Use this dropdown to filter your search by a date range. Options are Anytime, This week, This month, and This year.

Text conversations

From the Text conversations tab, you can search for a specific message in a text message conversation. Each message displays the conversations related to your search, including the name and phone number of the contact, if applicable.

When you hover over a message, a series of icons will appear at the far right.

  • Click the Text (chat bubble) icon to send a text message to that person.
  • Click the Call (phone) icon to call that person.

Company Contacts

In the Company contacts tab, you’ll find a list of AT&T Office@Hand users that match your search. Search results include co-workers and guest users. When you hover over a name, a series of icons will appear at the far right.

  • Click the Message (double chat bubble) icon to message that person.
  • You can also send a message by selecting the recipient’s name in the search results.
  • Click the Text (chat bubble) icon to send a text message to that person.
  • Click the Meeting (camera) icon to start a meeting with that person.
  • Click the Call (phone) icon to call that person.
  • Click Open profile to see that person’s profile.

NOTE: Depending on your and the recipient’s permissions settings, some of these actions may not be available.

Personal Contacts

In the Personal contacts tab, you’ll find a list of your contacts from within the AT&T Office@Hand app, as well as any you’ve added from your Microsoft and/or Google accounts.
When you hover over the name of a contact, a series of icons will appear at the far right.

  • Click the Text (chat bubble) icon to send a text message to that person.
  • Click the Call (phone) icon to call that person.
  • Click the Open profile (person) icon to view that person’s profile.
  • Click the Invite by email (envelope) or Invite by text (A) icon to invite that person to become a AT&T Office@Hand user.
  • Click the Get invite link (chain) icon to invite that person to become a AT&T Office@Hand user.
  • Click the Delete (trash can) icon to remove that person from your contacts.

In order to locate some of the options listed above, you may need to hover your mouse over the contact and select the More icon at the far right to reveal a dropdown containing more options.

Groups & Teams

In the Groups & Teams tab, you’ll find a list of all of your active groups and teams that match your search. When you hover over the name of a group or team, a series of icons will appear at the far right.

  • Click the Message (chat bubble) icon to message that group/team.
  • Click the Meet (camera) icon to start a meeting with that group/team.
  • Click the Start video call icon to start a video call with that group/team.
  • Click Open group/team profile to view that group’s or team’s profile.

If a team that you haven’t joined appears in your search results, you can hover over its name to generate a Join button at the far right. You can join the team by clicking that button.

NOTE: You can view and join public teams while searching. To join a private team, you must first be invited by an existing member of that team.

Settings

To access the Settings tab, click More > Settings. In the Settings tab, you’ll find a list of settings that match your search. Clicking on a setting will bring you to that setting’s location.

Searching for specific messages in a conversation

To search for a specific message in a conversation:

  1. Click Message in the left-hand navigation bar.
  2. From the list of conversations, select the one in which you’d like to search for a specific message.
  3. Click the search bar and enter the text that you associate with the message you’re looking for.
  4. In the search results, under Content search, select [search text] in this conversation to open all messages in that conversation that contain your search text.
  5. In the Messages tab, scroll through the list of messages to find the one you’re looking for.
  6. Hover over that message and click View in conversation to see the full message in the conversation thread.
