Units of Measure and Data Conversion

Data volume is broken down by MB (Megabytes) in the detail provided to the customer on the Invoice Details screen.

This job aid will show how to convert the unit of measure for an accurate comparison.

Note: All numbers and costs shown in this job aid are for demonstration purposes only and do not reflect actual pricing, customer invoices, or reports.

View the Rate Plan Details

  1. From the Invoice Details screen in Control Center, select the specific rate plan you want to view. This will link to the Rate Plan Details.

  2. Scroll down the Rate Plan Details screen to view the Data Usage section.

  3. Open a new spreadsheet.
  4. Create the following column headers:
    • Bytes
    • KB (Kilobytes)
    • MB (Megabytes)
    • GB (Gigabytes)
    • TB (Terabytes)
    These are different units of measurement levels of data usage.

    Create the following column headers.

  5. Copy the MB number from the Invoice Details in Control Center to the MB column in the spreadsheet.
    Note: This number is per month.

    How to perform Conversion

  6. 1024 is the basis used to convert units of measure.
    • To move up in data measurement levels, you will divide.
    • To move down in data measurement levels, you will multiply.
    MB ÷ 1024 = GB (Cell F2)
    GB ÷ 1024 = TB (Cell G2)
    MB x 1024 = KB (Cell D2)
    KB x 1024 = Bytes (Cell C2)
    These calculations represent the same data amounts, but in different units of measure.
