AT&T Enhanced Push-to-Talk

Learn how to use your Enhanced Push-to-Talk service to talk almost instantly to other subscribers walkie-talkie style using their supported regular devices and smartphones. Place an individual call in Enhanced Push-to-Talk for Android devices

  1. From the “Contacts” tab Contacts tab icon, scroll to desired individual with green availability indicator and tap contact name. Alternately, you may tap the checkbox, and then tap Call.
    Note: If individual is unavailable, tapping contact name will produce an ‘error’ tone and message.

  2. Individual/Private Enhanced Push-to-Talk call is ready. Tap and hold the on-screen button to initialize call and begin speaking after the ‘chirp’ sound.
    Note: If you are using a Samsung Rugby Pro device, you may assign your side key (button above the volume control key) to the Enhanced Push-to-Talk application and use it in place of the on-screen button.

  3. The microphone button will turn and remain green as long as you continue to hold it, indicating that you ‘have the floor’. When you finish speaking, release the button.
    Note: When the button is green, a dialogue bubble will also indicate that you are speaking.

  4. When your contact replies, the on-screen button will turn red indicating that they ‘have the floor’.
    Note: When the button is red, a dialogue bubble will also indicate that they are speaking.

  5. When no one is speaking, the button will be grey. End the call at any time by tapping End Call.

  6. After call ends, it appears on the “Home” tab Home tab icon under “Most Recent”.
