Manage key system emulation with AT&T Collaborate
As an administrator for the AT&T Collaborate SM service with permissions to manage sites, you can manage key system emulation groups for your site. Use key system emulation when you want to make and receive calls through Collaborate using analog key system equipment.
Create separate users that represent each line on your analog key system and then add the users to a key system emulation group. When a user in the group receives a call, the key system emulation service checks to see if the line is busy. If it is, the service checks other lines in the group, based on assigned priority, and rings the first available line it finds. For example, if your company has multiple reception lines and a call comes in, the service looks for an available reception line. If all those lines are busy, the service directs the call to voicemail using the Call Forwarding – No Answer setting.
Create users (lines)
These users are phone lines that will be used to ring the key system. To set up voicemail for the key system emulation group, create a separate user to act as a voicemail box. Give the voicemail box only an extension so that it can’t be called from outside your company.
- Create each user and do these things:
- Assign basic call forwarding settings to the user, such as Call Forwarding – No Answer.
- Choose an analog adapter, such as an EdgeMarc® 250 IAD, as the user’s device.
- Enter the MAC address, or choose from the list of equipment already in inventory for your site.
- Choose the port that this line will use.
- Create a user as a voicemail box (optional):
- Don’t assign this user a device.
- Set this user to forward all calls to voicemail. For help, see Manage user features.
- If you created a voicemail box, set up each user to forward unanswered calls to voicemail, and add the voicemail phone number or extension.
- To present a common caller ID number for calls made outside the company, manage the site or user’s caller ID policies. For help, see Manage user features.
Add a key system emulation group
Create one key system emulation group for each analog key system at your site.
- On the Collaborate homepage, click Switch to site view or Select a site, and then search for or select a site to manage.
- On the left menu, expand Administration, and then click Features. The Site feature settings page appears.
- In the Key System Emulation groups section, click Set up. The Key System Emulation groups page appears.
- Click Add group. The Create Key System Emulation group page appears.
- Enter a group name, and then click Manage. The Select users window appears.
- Check the box next to the users that you want to assign to the group, and then click Assign.
- To change the user priority, click Reorder users.
- In the window that opens, click Rearrange, and then change the value in the Priority field for each user.
- Click Assign, and then click Save.
Note: If you created a voicemail-only user, add this user to the key system emulation group with lowest priority.
- Click Save.
Note: Make sure you click Save before you exit the new group’s manage page, or you’ll lose your changes.
Manage a key system emulation group
- Follow steps 1-2 in the Add a key system emulation group section.
- On the Site feature settings page, in the Key System Emulation groups section, click the Edit icon. The Key System Emulation groups page appears.
- Next to the group you want to manage, click the Edit icon. The manage page for the group appears where you can:
- Change the group name
- Assign more users to the group
- Reorder users to change their order of call priority
- When you’re finished, click Save.
Delete a key system emulation group
- Follow steps 1-2 in the Manage a key system emulation group section.
- Next to the group you want to delete, click the Delete icon.
- You’re prompted to confirm that you want to delete the group.
