Install a Plug-&-Play Telematics device for AT&T Fleet Management for Enterprise/Government

Note: This solution is intended for informational purposes only. AT&T does not offer support for the installation of third party hardware. Some installations are more complicated and may require an Authorized Installer. Examples of a complicated installation are:

  • The OBD port protrudes or interferes when entering or exiting the vehicle or located so that it could be inadvertently kicked or bumped during vehicle operation.
  • The device isn’t properly secured.
  • An electrical harness or additional wiring is required.
  • Vehicle mounting modifications are required to secure the device, i.e., removing of panels, or the OBD connector has been deformed/damaged, or there is any physical damage visible to the electrical wiring.
  • The device does not beep six times and power on when first installed.The installer is unable to complete a secure installation according to the provided instructions.
  • The installer is unable to complete a secure installation according to the provided instructions.

Install the Telematics Device

Note: Take note of your device’s serial number as it is needed to verify the installation later.

  1. Verify that the device is compatible with your vehicle.
  2. Ensure that there are no warning lights on while the vehicle is running.
  3. Verify that all other vehicle functions (headlamps, flashers, etc.) are working correctly.
  4. Locate the vehicles diagnostic port.

  5. Align the receiver end of the device with the engine diagnostic port and push in place. The device beeps 6 times and all three lights on the device flash briefly.

  6. With the vehicle parked outdoors, start the vehicle and allow it to run for approximately 3 minutes.

  7. When all three LEDs light up, secure it with cable ties.

Verify the Installation

  1. Access from a smartphone or PC.
  2. Click in the field under “Installer name:” and enter your name.
  3. Click in the field under “Installer Company:” and enter your companies name.
  4. Click in the field under “Device Serial No:” and enter your reader’s serial number.
  5. Click on the Log Install button.

  6. The status displays.
    Note: Green text with the last valid GPS record, or Red text which indicates that the device is unable to communicate.
