Enabling and disabling call waiting on the Cisco SPA 300 series

Call waiting alerts you when you are on a call by ringing your phone and displaying a prompt that another call is ringing. If you turn call waiting OFF, incoming calls do not ring your phone if you are on another call, and the caller hears a busy tone or message.

This article will guide you on how to turning Call Waiting ON or OFF on the Cisco SPA 300 series.

You have two (2) options to do this:

i. Using the Setup button
ii. Using the star code

Using the Setup button

Step 1:
Press the Setup button.

Step 2:
Scroll to Preferences and press the select softkey.

Step 3:
Scroll to Call Waiting and press the edit softkey.

Step 4:
Press the y/n softkey to turn call waiting ON or OFF.

Step 5:
Press the ok softkey.

Step 6:
Press the save softkey.

NOTE:  For the Cisco SPA 301, you can only configure Call Waiting in the IP Phone Web Interface or by using the star code.

Using the star (*) code

• Enter *56 to activate call waiting.
• Enter *71 before dialing a number to activate call waiting for that call.
• Enter *57 to deactivate call waiting.
• Enter *72 before dialing a number to deactivate call waiting for that call.

You have now turned Call Waiting ON or OFF on the Cisco SPA 300 series.
