Assign mobility voicemail for an AT&T Collaborate Enhanced Mobile user

As an administrator managing users with the AT&T Collaborate℠-Enhanced Mobile service, you can assign Mobility voicemail or Collaborate voicemail as the voicemail type for a user.

Mobility voicemail is the voicemail type that is native to a mobile device. Collaborate voicemail is the voicemail type that users access through the Collaborate desktop or mobile apps.

When you upgrade users to the AT&T Enhanced Mobile service, they’re set up by default to use Mobility voicemail. However, you can change the assignment of a user’s voicemail type from Mobility to Collaborate or from Collaborate to Mobility.

Important: When you switch a user from one voicemail type to another, their voicemail files, voicemail settings, and recorded greetings from the previous type do not migrate to the new type. They also won’t be able to access their previous voicemail files after the switch, even if they switch back to the previous voicemail type.

You can assign the voicemail type for individual users, so within a group of Enhanced Mobile users, you can have some using Mobility voicemail and some using Collaborate voicemail. Users in an Enhanced Mobile group can also assign their voicemail type themselves.

Assign voicemail type for a user in Collaborate Enhanced Mobile

  1. On the Enhanced Mobile homepage, on the left menu, expand Users, and then click Manage users. The Manage users page appears.
  2. From the list, select the user you want to assign voicemail for. The user’s page appears.
  3. Click Manage voicemail. The Manage voicemail page appears. The user’s current assignment is clearly indicated.
  4. Under Assign voicemail type, select the assignment you want to switch the user to.
    • If you’re switching the user from Mobility voicemail to Collaborate voicemail, you can also do the following:
      • Reset the user’s PIN for voicemail access.
      • Change voicemail settings about when calls are sent to voicemail and how the user is notified about messages.
      • Manage the greeting that callers hear when they’re sent to voicemail.
      • Manage recorded announcements that the user has saved.
    • If you’re switching the user from Collaborate voicemail to Mobility voicemail, you can also do the following:
      • Change voicemail settings about when calls are sent to voicemail and how the user is notified about messages.
  5. Click Save.
  6. When prompted, click Continue to confirm that you want to switch the voicemail type.

After you assign the new voicemail type, the Voicemail change pending message appears. The change should occur in near real-time (RTP).

To verify if the change has been implemented:

  • In the Voicemail change pending window, click Refresh. If the change has been implemented, the message will disappear after refresh.
